Bistro 289' at The Laurel Hotel can be enterted via the Mt Alexander rd entrance. Our Bistro is more then just your normal 'pub' bistro with it's
elegant and modern decor, comfortable seating, large tables, ambient lighting, cafe del mar tunes and a food and beverage menu that is sure to impress. We offer 'a la carte' service, but if you prefer to pay seperately and come upto the bar, that is ok too.
The menu has a little bit of everything to suit all. Offering traditional style 'pub grub' as well as an array of other dishes - entrees, mains and housemade desserts. The Parmagiana - so yummy, it is still our best seller - served with our famous beer battered chips and salad. Our Seafood Platter for 2 is a winner with hot and cold seafood, beer battered chips, garden salad and condiments, well priced at $75. You will not find better in this area....
Michael Donnolley - Our Head Chef has created a delectable menu which includes Crispy Skin Pork Belly, Our popular Chicken Oscar - Stuffed Chicken Breast of haloumi and baby spinach and Deepa's Curry Duo is a must try, made in house by our nepalese chef. All mains are under $30 apart from our 3 steak options still well priced between $33 and $38. Our 400grm Porterhouse, pasture fed is a customer favourite at $36.
Then finish off with one of our housemade desserts; cream brulee, individual sticky date pudding or Golden Syrup Dumplings - Ol Fashioned fav...
Bistro 289 sits up to 140 people comfortably so can be booked out entirely or 'part of' for functions. 'The Atrium' private dining area seats 24 comfortably on 2 long tables and has a plasma screen tv, open fire and is decorated individually. In summer you can enjoy your dinner in our private outside courtyard area. We have lots of large tables perefect for group bookings and family outings.
Children are always welcome and have their own menu at $12 which includes a main, soft drink and kids dessert. We have a monthly colouring competition where kid's can win prizes and vouchers.
There is wheelchair access from the Mt Alexander road entrance.
